Heat and Cool Your Whole Home With Multi Split Air Conditioning

Multi Split Air Conditioning systems can heat or cool multiple rooms at once. It consists of an outdoor unit which runs multiple indoor units. One of their advantages is that they allow you to control individual room temperatures.

They are ideal for homes which require more diverse heating options where one wall-mounted split system is just not enough. They are generally more energy efficient than ducted systems and are ideal for rooms with limited ceiling space for duct work.

FAQ

  • How does an air conditioner work?

Air conditioners absorb excess heat from a room via refrigerant in it’s system. A fan then blows ambient air over the hot coils in the outside unit to cool them. Once the heat is removed, there is only cool air to be blown back into the room.
  • Can I run my indoor unit with windows and doors open?

If you wish to maintain a desired temperature in a room, opening windows and doors will have the opposite effect as the heat or cool air will escape instantly. This also makes your unit work harder, wasting power and money.
  • How do I heat and cool multiple rooms in my house at the same time?

Multi split systems can be operated in cooling or heating mode, not both at the same time.

However, using a multi split system means that you can cool or heat multiple rooms at once with a single unit.

  • Can I turn on one indoor unit with a multi split system?

You can operate a single indoor unit in a multi split system. This can be effective if you only want to heat or cool one room in your house. It is the main benefit of installing a multi split system.
  • Can I take my split system with me when I move house?

Split systems can be removed and reinstalled in a different house. However, this may void your warranty for systems that are reinstalled somewhere other than the original house. If you are going to move a split system to a new house, make sure that you get a qualified technician to perform the installation.
